Culminating Blog Reflection

Through the whole process, it took patience to learn computer language. Of course i didnt get to learn everything but i learned a couple to get me through the day. When you are working with java ,critical thinking comes into place because it is your creation. When using java your code is what is going to program your computer to do what you want it to do. It also works for games as well as anything else that can be programmed. When working with java you dont necessarily have to be so creative because all it is are codes that program something to do what you program it to do.

I feel like this had been added as a skill but of course not in a professional matter. I am mediocre when it comes to working with computer programming. Java is the most simple and commonly used program for it. Many people use it for their own personal matters. Some people use java as a hobby, it can be used for almost any matter. I would say it is a skill that people have because working with java isnt so easy yet it isnt the most difficult , the only difficult part is learning the language. Personally i dont find that computer programming fits me because it is just alot of computer language learning and coding and to remember all of the language must be very difficult.

The challenges for working with java was the computer language. It isnt like learning spanish or anything but i found it weird how some code means a certain thing. Another challenge was becoming interested in this type of computer work because at first i wanted to make my own website but i know it takes alot of investment and i didnt want to do too much so i switched to working with java instead which worked out more thorougly for me. Other than all of this nothing really effected the way that i learned the work of java, because when i think about it using java is simple, you just need to know what your doing in order to see your programming come alive.

Final Mentor Blog Post

These past few weeks i have gotten to meet with my mentor to finally reach my 25 hour peak and got to work with some java projects which is simple programming.  Computer language is a really difficult thing to learn because it is all coding. Java consists of codes and codes nonstop and i had to learn language in order to get it to work and through the process i have conquered the many errors that tje java pages show. It is also hard to explain how java works so i need to figure out how to thoroughly explain how i simply programmed the javascript.  I came to a conclusion where computer programming isnt for me but i still am open to learning more about computers . Felix has taught me what he knows and he isnt the most top notch mentor in the game but he helped me alot to understand the ways of how programming works and where it starts. It is all codes from computer language, and i never really looked into it in depth but after the 25 hours i can say that i was taught a whole lot that i never knew. While i present i will show some codes and what i did, through the whole process many ideas were changed and i went from here to there but i end up here learning about computer language and how it works with programming using java.

Mentor Days 4-8

Havent had the time to post what me and my mentor have been doing for a while but i am back on it. So far my mentor has been teaching me how to use java which involves computer language and codes that need to be typed up. Instead of a website that i was originall going to do , my mentor and i decided to create databases instead. This way i can possibly give a tutorial when i present mu capstone. Creating a website would take way too much time and cant possibly be created in the time span that i have before the deadline because their is too much to do for it. The database can be created faster. That is one problem that we overcame throughout the tine spent working on java and creating the database. The days that i have spent happened to add on 7 more hours to the time i have already spent which makes it 12 total so far. I have to spend more days to reach the 25 hour mark and so far i am seeing him twice a week now.

Timed Writing 3/6/13

        An event in my life that i would say changed me as a person was my trip to Nicaragua. It was emotional in many ways that i can think of.  Getting homesick, seeing poverty in real life instead of on a TV commercial,  and living the nicaraguan life for a whole month. When i first stepped out the airport, the heatwave hit me really badly and it hit me that i was really far away from home.  I knew that i did this to get to know the country where my parents came from, and to do what i can to help out a community in Nicaragua. 
       The first busride you can see street vendors and little kids asking for coins, the mentors told us that this was daily for nicaraguans.  It was sad, i hated seeing that, i always felt bad for them everytime that i saw that because it was way different than the homeless people in america because they are mostly the little kids in america.  I also saw stray dogs and it was like no one cared for them, there wasnt a type of SPCA type of program there so if the dog is lost then it will stay lost.  My family has 5 dogs and to see that was heartbreaking.  Poverty is a huge thing in Nicaragua.  There are many families that live under a dollar a day and only eat this dish called Gallo Pinto which is basically rice and beans.
       An experience that i had was going into a community called 'La Isla' where the kids lived in these small huts and had a little school there as well.  These kids are in a rural area that is outside of Leon which is the city that we mainly stayed in.  The kids had a soccer team with a space of a field with no goal posts to practice with.  So what we did in our community service projects was build goal posts on both sides of the field so that the kids can legitamently practice.  The kids were really excited when they saw their new goal posts and it is still there to do so we can say that our project was a success as being sustainable.
      This trip changed me as a person and how i view the world.  I feel now that i have it lucky where i am because i know for sure that i wouldnt want to live in a place like that.  We were consideed rich kids when we visited nicaragua because 20 dollars american money is alot of nicaraguan money if you exchange it.  I came back to America realizing that i need to appreciate the things that i have and the things that i may receive in the future because others out in the world don't have it as easy as others do.  Experiencing real life poverty for yourself can really change your views, it changed mine.

Mentor day 3

Today i got into contact with my.mentor for an hour , he has been really busy with work and so have i , we finally found an hour and a half to catch up on what we were going to put in the website . I have to start getting to work on what videos and posts i need to put onto the website. My.mentor also wants to teach me about his job and what he does as a computer engineer and hopefully get a visual on how he does it.

Menor Blog Day 2

I met up with my mentor yesterday instead of wednesday because something came up on his schedule that day so we met up.saturday instead and we talked about the type of site im going to create. we came up with making a site that has to do with different ways of hoe video games can affect behavior along with videos and articles. This way the site I create also can relate to my research paper. We havent came to no problems , were still in the idea process and will start creating soon. I managed to get an hour and a half in

Mentor Blog Day 1

Saturday January 19th I went to go meet with my mentor for 2 hours and for that whole time we were speaking about ideas for the site,i was seeing if I can possiby work on a site that has to do with games because my research paper has to do with games. It is possible to make a site that has to do it so on saturday we basically just planned everything out .Next wednesday is when I will see my mentor again and get started on the site.
